The Jiuhe township supply station in Pan'an County treats water through gravity sand filtration, serving mountain villages where every engineering detail — even getting the sample to the instrument — must be solved on site.
Customer Challenge
Beyond the usual dosing-data need, this site had a practical obstacle: the water sample could not flow to the instruments by itself, so continuous sampling had to be engineered before monitoring could even begin.
The TENGINE Solution
Twenty-four instrument sets were deployed — MTU high-precision turbidity analyzers on the inlet and TMS-D3000 multi-parameter analyzers with pH instruments on the outlet — together with a pressure self-priming pump and pressure-stabilizing valve that deliver a continuous, stable sample stream to the analyzers.
Implementation
The self-priming pump and stabilizing valve were fitted to solve the sampling problem, then the analyzer sets were commissioned on the continuous sample stream.
Project Results
The sampling obstacle is solved: inlet and outlet parameters are monitored online continuously, coagulant and hypochlorite dosing has dependable data, and the mountain villages' water stays safely compliant.
Related Case Studies
The plant's raw water comes from an upstream reservoir whose quality swings constantly: sediment wash-in from rainstorms, summer algae blooms and organic-matter spikes, drought-period changes. Worse, by the time abnormal water reached the plant intake and was detected, several hours had already passed — the best window for response was gone.
The upgraded plant demanded high accuracy on difficult measurements — low-turbidity drinking water and residual chlorine among them — with instruments that integrate stably into the plant's automation system. Site conditions threw up real problems too, such as abnormal inlet flow conditions, and the schedule required fast technical response and on-site problem solving.
A surface water plant has many treatment stages, and running them on operator experience alone leaves blind spots: filter backwash timing, sedimentation-basin sludge discharge and disinfectant dosing could not be adjusted dynamically against actual water conditions, risking off-spec finished water.
