Project Background

As part of Gulou District's program to standardize river outfalls, the district needed online monitoring downstream of outfalls to understand their real impact on river water quality.

Customer Challenge

Outfall regulation requires trustworthy, continuous data at the river points downstream of discharge outlets — monitoring COD and ammonia nitrogen where pollution would actually show up, and feeding the district's smart platform for governance decision-making.

The TENGINE Solution

Monitoring points were installed downstream of the river outfalls, built around the TC2000 multi-parameter intelligent controller with the IDNH integrated ammonia-nitrogen analyzer (ISE method) and the IUVC integrated organic-matter (COD) analyzer — delivering continuous online data on the two core pollution indicators.

Implementation

TC2000 + IDNH + IUVC monitoring points were deployed downstream of the outfalls, streaming real-time COD and ammonia-nitrogen data to the district's smart platform.

Project Results

The district now sees real-time river quality downstream of every regulated outfall — providing the data foundation for its smart platform and solid information support for river governance.

The river basin needed continuous, automated water-quality supervision across multiple points — with the ability to warn of risks before incidents happen, not just record them afterwards. Dispersed sites demanded compact, low-maintenance stations with dependable digital sensing.

River sites demand equipment that survives outdoor conditions with minimal attention: fast water-sample exchange for truthful readings, long maintenance intervals, and simple installation without buildings or extensive infrastructure.

The site offered minimal construction space and exposed equipment to Beijing's summer heat and winter freezing. The station had to watch the effluent continuously, send alarms on exceedances, support multiple measurement modes and transmit data remotely — while surviving the temperature extremes unattended.
